The ImageNation Soul Cinema will be the first in a chain of boutique cinema-cafes dedicated to independent films from the African Diaspora. This unique flexible venue will offer a soul food café, to be operated in partnership with the Soul Fixins restaurant, 60 theater-style seats, a bar, access to the ImageNation Film Archives, and will be equipped for live performances.
The Soul Cinema will boast a lively social atmosphere and serve as a beacon for like-minded individuals who seek progressive cinema and music that highlight the humanity of Black people worldwide. With a support committee that includes Danny Glover, Lee Daniels, Bjork, Jonathan Demme, Damon Dash and Erykah Badu to name a few, this venue will draw patrons and bolster Harlem’s social scene through unique programming and strategic marketing.
